Every female deserves to be respected and empowered.

This is where Gia’s Club comes in!

Gia’s Club strives to make every day a safe day for our most vulnerable population.

Gia’s Club believes this challenged population has been woefully under-served, ignored and disregarded for far too long. With your help, we would like to make sure every developmentally disabled woman has access to programs geared towards the female perspective. While being geared towards women, our events are inclusive to all genders and disabilities. Gia's Club loves celebrating fun regardless of the severity of our guests' issues.

Today there are over 68,000 developmentally disabled women in California over the age of 18 requesting services from the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and local Regional Centers. DDS/Regional Centers. There is a shortage of programs to service the developmentally disabled population. Gia's Club wants to change that.

Our Story

Hi, I’m Jaime Capone, mother of Gia, the inspiration behind Gia’s Club. My mom Andrea Capone and I created this nonprofit for Gia, who has autism and is on the severe end of the spectrum.

We have seen firsthand what little programming there is out there for females on the spectrum. Unfortunately, many of the programs Gia has participated in have been a negative experience. Gia’s behavioral challenges were either too great or she wasn’t “high functioning” enough or there just wasn’t anything GIRLY enough for her to be interested in.

Another important goal for GIA’S CLUB is to focus on providing a setting using female caregivers for female clients. Gia can be aggressive which means the level of care she has received in school and therapeutic settings is intense. Since the time she was very young and very small, we have personally watched grown men pounce on her as if they were in a wrestling match to place her in a “hold” which was always “for her own safety.” She’s been put in so many situations where she is required to put her trust in grown men who are absolute strangers to her. We know there are amazing men out there. We’ve worked with men who deserve saint status. But try to imagine the anxiety you might feel if you were a developmentally disabled young woman who needed help with a sanitary napkin and your only aide is a grown man. It just never seemed right to us.

For the safety and wellbeing of this underserved population, Gia's Club's ultimate goal will be to create day care centers and group homes for women, run by women because EVERY WOMAN NO MATTER WHAT THEIR ABILITY DESERVES A SAFE PLACE. We hope, with your help, to make this possible!

Thank you for being part of Gia’s Club!
